Common Symptoms of Menopause and its management:

  • Hot flushes and night sweats; experienced as a sudden temperature spike, flushing red face, increased sweating, most commonly occurring as night sweats- this issue can be helped with antidepressants. However, if the situation has come to ingesting antidepressants, you should consult a doctor before proceeding with this.
  • Changes in the regularity and flow of menstrual cycle; leading to an end to the menstruation
  • Vaginal dryness, pain during sexual intercourse and incontinence, this happens because the change in hormones causes dryness to pursue in the vagina
  • Insomnia/difficulty falling asleep/- hot flashes and night sweats may make it difficult for the women to fall asleep
  • Night sweats refer to increased perspiration episodes at night, these can happen in combination with hot flashes, this may make the woman wake up in the middle of the night due to sweating
  • Changes in mood/depression/anxiety- menopause comes to the woman as a period of increased irritability, moods fluctuate more often and it is difficult to always explain exactly what the woman is feeling- improved with cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Decreased interest in sex; the decreased levels of estrogen predispose the woman to a decreased interest in sexual activity- hormone therapy helped this
  • Forgetfulness; this can be improved with hormonal therapy
  • Joint stiffness; this can be improved with physiotherapy and supplements
